Canobie Lake Park Carousel
Ca. 1898 Looff-Dentzel Mix menagerie
Circa 1898 Looff/Dentzel/Stein & Goldstein mix menagerie carousel. Three rows with 43 horses, one deer, a goat and a rare Gustav Dentzel signature lion.
Salem, New Hampshire
This is a great old, and very interesting “Golden Age” American carousel. At the historic park since ca. 1906, the carousel is a late 1890s Looff-Dentzel mix with a rare signature Stein & Goldstein horse aboard. Also aboard the two level platform is a very rare Gustav Dentzel signed lion. There is also an interesting chariot with the carved facade portraying a chariot pulled by horses. The band organ was last known to be a Wurlitzer 153. These photos are from 2009.
Canobie Lake Park is one of America’s few surviving original Trolley Parks, and a great family amusement park, just 40 miles north of Boston, Canobie Lake has operated every summer since it opened in 1902.
